I recently parted out a 1987 BMW 325i that was owned by a dealer employee when it was new. The car had most of the items from the old accessory catalog installed, including the BMW car phone. I very carefully removed this kit from the car. The cellular Netwerk is no longer supported, nor do I know if the electronics work.
