This is a used Carter 9400S carburetor. It is a 400 CFM AFB 4 four barrel carburetor. The mounting flange is stamped with the part number 9400S and the date code E9. These are popular as a performance upgrade for six cylinder engines and small displacement V8 engines. I have even seen them used on flathead Ford V8s.
