This is the Mercury vintage antique outboard motor starter rope anchor. This is correct for all the 7.5hp and 10hp, "K" models made in the mid 1940's into the mid and later 50's. Fits many other models. If you have to buy a reproduction grip you very often need this rope anchor as well. Look at the photos and email with questions. Thanks for looking....
