A short bit of history to describe this rare piece of auto history you're looking at. My grandfather told me that back in the day automobiles didn't have heaters, so a "lap robe" was wrapped around your legs and lap in the car to keep warm. Come the 1930s and a new era, heaters may have arrived in upper class cars but the lap robe remained and evolved into a sign of luxury and comfort.
