Sometime in the 1980's the USA department of Transportation decreed that speedometers should not read more than 85 MPH. This law was very annoying to owners of cars that could greatly exceed 85MPH. The speed limit then was 55 MPH. The UD22129 electronic speedometer was not supposed to be offered in the USA during the 1980's but Rolls-Royce and Bentley owners always wanted to replace their stupid 85 MPH speedometers with the 140 MPH speedometers.
