This is an oval style clutch lever boot for a MGA, MGB to 1974 and Austin Healey Sprite and MG Midget up to 1974. The boot is in a very harsh environment with heat and road debris bombarding the clutch boot. And on top of that every time you are pressing the pedal you are working the rubber.
