Up for sale is a 1972 BSA, 500 MX, 500cc motocross bike; a factory-produced race-bike that was Britain's four-stroke answer to the two-stroke competition from Europe and Japan. In truth, the bike was a better flat tracker or desert racer from a pure competition standpoint -- as it weighed about 20 pounds more than most of its two-stroke "open class" (big bore) rival factory racers.
